FAQ

Patients typically have a lot of questions when it comes to physical therapy. However, If you can’t find what you are looking for please give us a call!

Do I need to be referred from a physician before I can see a Physical Therapist?

In the state of Pennsylvania, you are able to be evaluated and treated by a physical therapist without a physician's referral - called DIRECT ACCESS.  Exceptions to direct access may include but are not limited to Medicare, workman’s compensation insurance, and PIP (personal injury) insurance whereby a referral and prescription from a MD before treatment by a PT may be required. “Direct access benefits patients in that it allows patients to expedite treatment, saving time and money.” (recoverypt.com)

How many times per week & how long will my appointment be?

The first appointment will be closer to 75 minutes. Please prepare added time for an in-depth conversation on the problems effecting you. Every other session is typically around 1 hour.

Surgical rehab is typically 3x per week until the patient & therapist are in agreement with a home program to decrease frequency.  Other treatments range anywhere from 2x per wek to as needed.  This is always discussed with the treating doctor of physical therapy.

What should I wear?

Gym type clothing with accessibility to the area to be treated.  Keep in mind, we often incorporate a manual therapy based program so access to the region of interest will likely be needed.

We offer private treatment rooms for your comfort and privacy.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes.  We are in network with most major insurances.  Our front desk staff can verify your network benefits prior to your appointment and let you know of any co-pays, deductibles, or co-insurances.   Because of the common difficulties we all know in dealing with insurances, we always recommend the patient also calls to check on these benefits.

In Network Insurances: Highmark Blue Cross Blueshield, Medicare, United, Cigna, most AETNA plans, Workers Compensation Claims, Auto Insurance.
